HI-MaNGA: HI Followup for MaNGA Galaxies

Abstract

This filler proposal requests further observations in the HI-MaNGA programme which aims to obtain HI single-dish observations for all z<0.05 galaxies observed in the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) survey of SDSS-IV. We request 19.25 hours to complete observations for 35 objects with missing or incomplete data. Observations are simple and fully automated, making this an ideal filler program. The HI-MaNGA program has made valuable contributions to projects to the community by adding total HI content for the legacy MaNGA survey. These data can also inform decisions about targets for spatially resolved HI followup. This request for additional time will allows us to complete HI observations of z<0.05 MaNGA galaxies with partially complete/lower sensitivity GBT observations (in large part due to lost time from satellite RFI). All reduced data will be made public through the SDSS system and our GBO survey page to benefit to the entire extragalactic community; our fourth data release for ~70% of MaNGA, containing 4016 galaxies with GBT observations, was released in July 2024.
