Characterizing of the first radio pulsar associated with the oldest open cluster

Abstract

We propose Green Bank Telescope (GBT) L-band (1.15-1.73 GH) observations to monitor PSR J1921+3746, a pulsar recently discovered with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST). It is the first radio pulsar associated with an old metal-rich star cluster. The proposed observation will help to determine the flux density and polarization properties of the new pulsar. The data we take as part of this proposal will also be valuable for future pulsar timing studies, which we intend to pursue through the coming 25B semester.
