HI observations of galaxies with strong AGN outflows

Abstract

Material accreting onto a supermassive black hole found at the centre of galaxies can release larges amount of energy in the form of radiation, winds or radio jets. The energy from these Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) can affect the interstellar medium of the galaxy by removing gas through massive and fast outflows. In this proposal we seek to study the effect of AGN with strong outflows on the total neutral hydrogen (HI) gas of a galaxy.
